The 2nd team kicked off their season with a loss, but there was an encouraging team spirit and some really promising performances. KGCC batted first, having won the toss, and Ashish Patel and Julian Coppock put on a steady 69 for the first wicket (mostly scored by Ashish who top scored with 40). A mid order collapse had us at 105 for 6 before a particularly good partnership by Samir Patel  and Sandeep Patel got us to 182 for 9 from 47 overs, which seemed like a par score on a slow, low wicket.

Pinner made a steady start in reply, always around 3 runs per over, but we soon started chipping away at them with Sandeep and  …….. bowling accurately. Our high point was reducing Pinner to ????????for 6 before their skipper and young opening bowler came together and started putting bat to ball. With 7 overs to go they required just more than 6 per over, but a mixture of less accurate bowling and a couple of dropped catches meant they got there with an over to spare.

Still, an encouraging start to the new Chiltern league for us, and good to see Pinner staying on for some drinks at the bar afterwards.
