This was our second weekend in the Morrants Chiltern League, and although enjoyable, it was not as good as our first. The 1st team visited a lovely ground at Winchmore Hill, (the one near Coleshill, not N. London MW!). We had heard that Winchmore Hill were likely to be the strongest team in our division, and so it may have proved to be. The opposition batted first and although they had a strong batting line up, we were pleased with our bowling and fielding in bowling them all out for 224, with Mike Widdowson taking 5 wickets. They had a very quick and good opening bowler who, with his partner, soon reduced us to 27 for 5, before a spirited reply from Andy Irving, Colin Blunden and James Crowther git us to 99, but in the end we fell well short of a good team.
The second team also lot their home match against Amersham Hill 2. Batting first we could only muster a disappointing 93, with a top score of 25 from Jack Patel, which Amersham passed for the loss of 4 wickets.
The Sunday team fared better against Golden Age, picking up a good win. Batting first, we scored 223, with a top score of ????? from ??????. before restricting Golden Age to ???? for ???? from their 40 overs, with some good bowling particularly from Matt Sutcliffe and Alex Macleish.
